What is henna?

Henna is the name for both the plant and the artwork. Yes, henna is a plant, and it stains the skin with a naturally produced dye from its leaves called lawsone. There is no ink involved, and it is not a tattoo. In fact, a wise fellow henna artist once said that henna is more like cake decorating than tattooing.

How long does it last?

Assuming that proper aftercare instructions were followed, designs on the limbs generally last about 7 to 10 days. For designs on the palms and soles of the feet, henna can last much longer; up to two weeks or more on those areas would not be uncommon.

How do I take care of my henna?

Keep it warm and keep it dry.

This applies whether you still have paste on, or the paste has already come off and you have a developing stain. Try to avoid water for the first 24 to 48 hours after the paste has come off and when the stain is still fresh on the skin (light to bright orange in color). If this is not possible, at least protect the stain first by applying a plant-based oil on the skin (coconut oil is great), do your water business, and then gently pat dry.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, check, and credit card.

What is the booking process?

All accepted bookings are done via email. Please send us your inquiries by using the Contact form on this website, or by directly emailing us at touchofhennahawaii@gmail.com. In your message, please let us know what type of henna body art service you are interested in, as well as details of location, date, and time. Included images of other henna artists' work is helpful.

There is an additional non-refundable $20 booking fee on top of the cost of henna body art service; this is to ensure that the client's appointment is secured on the calendar. An electronic invoice via Square will be sent to the client. Unless some other arrangement has otherwise been agreed upon previously between the client and henna artist, it is required that the invoice be paid in full before the appointment date to ensure guaranteed service.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please kindly notify the henna artist at least 24 hours before your appointment if you must cancel or change the date. Cancellations of at least 24 hours before the appointment will be refunded 100% in full, except for the non-refundable $20 booking fee.
